Falls möglich schaut man bei geöffnetem Gehäuse und am PC angeschlossenem Laufwerk (mal mit, mal ohne CD), ob der Schlitten in die richtige Position gebracht wird, ob der Pickup positioniert werden kann und ob die Fokussierlinse bewegt wird.
Oft ist das Laufwerk auch gar nicht defekt.
