Nach Rothe folgten Mohrmann und v. Sanden, hierauf ab 1922 König, der das Institut für Mathematik und Mechanik zunächst bis 1939 leitete.
In der Kriegs- und frühen Nachkriegszeit wurden Vertretungen durch fachfremde Kollegen improvisiert (Geophysiker Jung, Markscheider Rellensmann), bis 1948 Prof. Mettler das Amt übernahm.
Abgelöst wurde er 1953 wieder von Prof. König.
