Grundsätzlich stellt die Biodiversität die Basis für jegliche Bereitstellung von Ökosystemleistungen dar, von denen letztlich alle Menschen, ob arm oder reich, abhängen.Aus diesem Grund hat die Konvention zur Biologischen Vielfalt (CBD) das Ziel, den weiteren Verlust der Biodiversität bis 2010 zu stoppen.
