Der Betriebsvertrag zwischen Spaceopal und der ESA ist der vierte von sechs Verträgen der Galileo-Aufbau-Phase.
Damit können Ende nächsten Jahres die ersten Satellitenstarts erfolgen. Die insgesamt 18 Satelliten werden bis Oktober 2014 im Orbit für erste Navigationsdienste zur Verfügung stehen.
Spaceopal übernimmt dabei die Vorbereitung und Durchführung des Gesamtbetriebs.
