Die Einrichtung für Streichorchester entstand 1948 und wurde am 10. April 1949 durch die Berliner Philharmoniker unter Sergiu Celibidache uraufgeführt.
Es ist eine besondere Schicksalsfügung, daß sich nun nach über einem halben Jahrhundert mit dem Kaminski-Kenner Konrad von Abel der engste Mitarbeiter des späten Celibidache wieder dieses Werkes annimmt.
Heinz Schubert komponierte 'Vom Unendlichen', Präludium und Fuge für Sopran und drei solistische Streichquintette, Anfang der vierziger Jahre auf einen pantheistischen zarathustrischen Hymnus an den Schöpfer.

It is a unique expression of fate that now, after more than half a century, Konrad von Abel, an expert on Kaminski and the closest collaborator of Sergiu Celibidache, dedicates himself to these composers and their works.
Heinz Schubert composed “Vom Unendlichen”, a Prelude and Fugue for Soprano and three solo string quintets, at the beginning of the 1940s.
