An jedem Verzweigungspunkt der Strecke, also zum Beispiel bei einer Weiche, wird nun dieses Kärtchen durch einen Barcodescanner gelesen.
In der Steuerung der Weiche ist eine Verzweigungstabelle hinterlegt und diese führt dann das Fahrzeug in die gewünschte Richtung.
Es ist so ähnlich wie mit den Wegschildern an einer Kreuzung.
