Im Jahr 1999 war Attac in Seattle bei den Demonstrationen dabei, die zum Scheitern der Verhandlungen der Welthandelsorganisation geführt haben.
Attac war eine der Organisationen, die die Gründung des ersten Weltsozialforums in Porto Allegre im Jahr 2001 initiiert haben.

Die letzte Ministerkonferenz der Welthandelsorganisation WTO (World Trade Organisation), die im Dezember 2013 in Bali/Indonesien stattfand, wurde durch einen Streit über Ernährungssicherheit zwischen einer Gruppe von 33 Entwicklungsländern (G33) und Industriestaaten überschattet.
Die G33 verlangte Änderungen am Agrarabkommen der WTO, die Beschränkungen der Einrichtung von Getreidereserven beseitigen würden.

The last ministerial conference of the WTO, held in Bali/Indonesia in December 2013, had been overshadowed by a controversy over food security between a group of 33 developing countries (G33) and industrialized countries.
The G33 sought changes to the WTO’s Agreement on Agriculture removing some of the constraints on the implementation of food reserves, a measure which gained more prominence following the food price crisis of the years 2007-2008.
