Medizinische Fakultät
Die Medizinische Fakultät ist Ausbildungsstätte für über 3.000 Studierende der Human- und Zahnmedizin und eng verbunden mit dem Universitätsklinikum Leipzig.
Mit 48 Instituten und Kliniken sowie fünf selbstständigen Abteilungen, zählen die Medizinische Fakultät und das Universitätsklinikum Leipzig zu den größten medizinischen Einrichtungen im sächsischen Raum.

Die Medizin beschäftigt sich mit der Erkennung, Heilung, Linderung und Prävention von Krankheiten oder Verletzungen bei Mensch ( Humanmedizin, Zahnmedizin ) und Tier ( Tiermedizin – nicht an der Universität Rostock ) sowie der Erforschung von Ursachen, neuer Diagnose- und Behandlungsmethoden bzw. neuer Heilmittel.
Dazu ist der Erwerb fundierter Kenntnisse der menschlichen ( bzw. tierischen ) Anatomie und Physiologie erforderlich.
