CYCLOPS ist die ausführende Komponente eines Proteinkomplexes, der das Calcium-Signal dekodiert und als Konsequenz symbioserelevante Gene aktiviert.
Der Komplex enthält ein weiteres Enzym, das durch Calcium aktiviert wird, und seinerseits CYCLOPS phosphoryliert, das heißt mit Phosphatgruppen ausstattet.
