Katharina Zech machte als Schülerin ein Praktikum im Tierpark Hellabrunn, leitete ehrenamtlich den Münchner Tanzsportclub „Savoy“ und nahm am „Tuscany Dog Project“ im italienischen Pisa zur Beobachtung des Sozialverhaltens wild lebender Hunde teil.
