Freund Joachim Helbig, früher für Goethe in Kamerun, jetzt im nagelneuen ‚ Haus der Kulturen der Welt “ für Theater, Musik etc. zuständig, fragt an, ob ich nicht Wole für eine einwöchige Großveranstaltung mit dem Titel ‚ A voyage around … ’, eben eine Reise rund um den frischen 1986er Nobel mit-gestalten könne.
Ich erinnere Wole daran , er sei ja bereits 1964 einmal in diesem Gebäude , der ‚ Pregnant Oyster ’ gewesen – damals zusammen mit Langston Hughes , Stephen Spender , Tchicaya U Tams’i , Ezekiel Mphalele , sowie Heinrich Böll und Günther Grass .
Und er sagt zu, für gleich eine Woche!

In a telex I remind Wole that already in 1964 he spent a few memorable days in that building – which the Berliners call the ‘Pregnant Oyster’ – in the company of Langston Hughes, Stephen Spender, Tchicaya U Tams’i, Ezekiel Mphalele, as well as Heinrich Böll und Günther Grass.
