Obwohl dieser Einfluss unstrittig ist, mangelt es bislang noch an einer systematischen und quantitativen Untersuchung des Zusammenhangs zwischen Biomasseakkumulation und bodenhydraulischem Verhalten.
Die überwiegende Mehrheit der Studien beschränkt sich auf die Untersuchung wassergesättigter Systeme und untersucht somit lediglich den Einfluss der Biomasse auf die Bodenparameter Porosität und gesättigte hydraulische Leitfähigkeit.
Das Hauptziel dieses Projekts ist es, den Einfluss von Biofilmen im Porenraum von Böden auf bodenhydraulische Eigenschaften, d.h. die Retentions- und ungesättigte hydraulische Leitfähigkeitsfunktion zu quantifizieren.

The major goal of the project is to quantify the influence of biomass on the hydraulic properties of unsaturated porous media.
Pore scale experiments and continuum scale column flow experiments under steady-state and transient flow conditions and with varying amounts and spatial distributions of biofilms will be conducted.
