Im Berghof waren viele prominente Persönlichkeiten zu Gast – er war so etwas wie ein Künstlertreff und Zentrum des gesellschaftlichen Lebens.
Schriftsteller Hugo von Hofmannsthal, einer der Gründer der Salzburger Festspiele, las abends hier sogar im Sommer 1910 zwei Akte Rosenkavalier.
