Basically, in cases of civil servants positions part-time employments between 100 % and 50 % of the regular working hours may be arranged with the employer.
If the reduction of the working hours by more than 50% is urgently required, the civil servant relationship (Beamtenverhältnis) must be replaced by an employment relationship (Angestelltenverhältnis).
