At the 48th annual conference of the Institute for the German Language, linguistics experts engaged in controversial debate about phenomena including Kanak Sprak (German dialect spoken by some Turks in Germany) the plural of “Erdbeere” (strawberry) and other features of the German spoken by migrants.
Almost 500 linguistics experts from 27 countries convened in Mannheim to discuss the German of migrants.
