A romantic masterpiece par excellence follows, tarrying between hesitant ländler and wistful nocturne; it serves to set the stage for the impressive entrance of the solemn fourth movement.
The contrast is overwhelming!
www.digitalconcerthall.comZwar schunkeln wir längere Zeit auf den Wellen dahin, doch nach dem Trio klingt das Thema nur noch bruchstückhaft und wie von Ferne auf, um schließlich von den Blechbläsern die letzten Reste der Beschaulichkeit aufgekündigt zu bekommen – so jedenfalls würden sich Dorfmusikanten selbst in berauschtem Zustand nicht benehmen !
Es folgt ein romantisches Kabinettstückchen par excellence, das zwischen zögerlichem Ländler und sehnsuchtsvollem Notturno dahintändelt; seiner Funktion nach soll es dem weihevollen vierten Satz einen denkbar wirkungsvollen Auftritt verschaffen.
Der Kontrast ist überwältigend!
