1872 konnten eine gewerblich-technische Bibliothek und ein technisches Auskunftsbüro mit einer amtlichen Patentschriftenauslegestelle eröffnet werden.
Es folgte die Gründung eines chemischen Labors und 1888 entstand eine technische Versuchsstation zur Begutachtung von Maschinen, Motoren und Werkzeugen.

In 1872, a trade library and a technical information centre were opened, with an official patent reference office.
