Das in Sankt Petersburg verwahrte Kanjur-Manuskript besteht aus 113 Kapiteln im pothi-Format ( d.h. mit rechteckigen Einzelblättern aus Papier ), zusammengefasst zu 100 Bündeln oder physischen Einheiten.
Jedes Bündel wird von zwei Holzdeckeln geschützt und ist mit einer Schnur fixiert .
Darin enthalten sind jeweils ein oder zwei Kapitel Text, und an je einem der beiden Deckel ist ein schäbiges rotes Stück Stoff als Etikett befestigt (siehe Abb. 1).
