Das Verkehrsforschungsprojekt Soccer des Deutschen Zentrums für Luft- und Raumfahrt ( DLR ) unterstützte die Verkehrslenkung während der FIFA-Weltmeisterschaft durch aktuelle Verkehrsdaten aus der Luft.
Online übertragene Kamerabilder und zeitgleich entstandene Luftbildkarten gaben eine objektive visuelle Information über die Verkehrslage und die Verkehrsentwicklung in den jeweils nächsten fünf bis 15 Minuten.
Mannschaften, Schiedsrichter und Zuschauer kamen damit staufrei zu den Spielen und zurück in die Quartiere.

Camera images sent over the Internet and simultaneously generated aerial maps provided objective visual information about the traffic situation and the predicted build-up of traffic over the next five to 15 minutes.
The project ensured that teams, referees and fans all made it to the match and back home again afterwards - without traffic congestion.
