Kalligraphie / Ornament / Miniatur und stellt die klassischen Exponate islamischer Kunst in ein Bezugsfeld moderner und zeitgenössischer Positionen in Graphik, Zeichnung und Malerei, Fotografie, Video-Kunst, Installation, Klang und Skulptur.
Die Ausstellung fragt nach der visuellen und performativen Eigenständigkeit der Schrift als Kunstform, sie thematisiert strukturelle und politische Aspekte des Ornaments und sie präsentiert figurative Formen der persischen und moghulindischen Miniaturmalerei unter narrativen und poetischen Gesichtspunkten.
In 18 thematisch akzentuierten Räumen entwirft die Ausstellung ein Kaleidoskop visueller und akustischer Bezüge unterschiedlicher künstlerischer Ausdrucksformen und zeitlicher Zuordnungen.
