Ziel des Can Gio-Projektes ist es, mögliche Unterschiede ökosystemarer Funktionen von natürlichen und wiederaufgeforsteten Mangroven in einem Biosphärenreservat in Südvietnam festzustellen.
Die Untersuchungsergebnisse liefern einen wichtigen Beitrag für andere Teilprojekte des Verbundvorhabens, die die Dynamik von Nährstoffen und organischem Material im Übergangsbereich Land-Ozean, der hier in Südvietnam überwiegend von Mangroven besiedelt ist, erforschen.

The aim of the Can Gio-project is to determine the possible differences in ecosystem functioning between natural and reforested mangrove areas within a biosphere reserve in South Vietnam.
The results will provide an important contribution to other sub-projects of the joint project, including insight into the dynamics of nutrients and organic material in the transition zone between land-ocean, which is dominated by mangroves in South Vietnam.

Die Küstenzone von Südvietnam ist durch ein Auftriebsgebiet und durch den Nahrungs- und Sedimenteintrag aus der Mangrove beeinflusst.
