Frustrierend endete das Rennen dagegen für seinen Teamkollegen Timo Scheider, der auf den weicheren Optionsreifen gestartet war und auf dem dritten Platz lag, als er in Runde 34 von DTM-Neuling António Félix da Costa im BMW unter Gelben Flaggen umgedreht wurde.
Auch dadurch verlor Scheider in der Folge insgesamt sechs Positionen – die letzten drei nach einer Rangelei mit Augusto Farfus in der Schlussrunde.
