Ich grüße insbesondere die Jugendlichen der kanadischen Delegation, angeführt vom Erzbischof von Toronto, Kardinal Ambrozic, die hier unter uns sind, um das Kreuz in Empfang zu nehmen, um das sich die Jugendlichen aller Kontinente beim nächsten Weltjugendtag 2002 versammeln werden.
Euch allen und einem jeden von euch weise ich noch einmal kraftvoll im Kreuz Christi den Weg des Lebens und des Heils, den Weg, um am Tag der Auferstehung zur Siegespalme zu gelangen.
Was sehen wir am Kreuz, das sich vor uns aufrichtet und das, seit zweitausend Jahren, die Welt nicht zu fragen und die Kirche nicht zu betrachten aufhört?

Once again I forcefully point out to each and every one the Cross of Christ as the path of life and salvation, the way that leads to the palm of triumph on the day of resurrection.
