Er war ein berühmter Humanist und wirkte von 1439 bis zu seinem Tod im Jahre 1477 als Dorfpfarrer.
In dieser Zeit ließ er eine Mauer um das Gebäude und Türme an dessen Ecken errichten, um die Kirche als eine unbezwingbare Festung erscheinen zu lassen.
Im Inneren wurden zwei kleine Tempel erbaut, die dem von Michelozzo in der Kirche Santissima Annunziata in Florenz entworfenen Tempel nachempfunden sind.
