On an expedition to the Baltic coast, set up by the society, Enderlein discovered the net-winged insect.
By naming it Conwentzia he wanted to honour Dr. Hugo Conwentz, director of the Westpreußisches Provinzialmuseum (West Prussian Provincial Museum ) in Danzig.
