Viele seiner Entdeckungen fanden industrielle Anwendungen, zum Beispiel die Herstellung von Fleischextrakt.
Als Begründer der modernen Düngelehre und der Agrikulturchemie gilt Liebig darüber hinaus als Mitbegründer der Agrarwisssenschaften.
