In Castellina wurden viele bedeutenden archäologischen Funde ans Tageslicht befördert - insbesondere das imposante Grabgewölbe auf dem Monte Calvario, das etwas außerhalb der Stadt an der Straße nach Florenz liegt und einen Durchmesser von ca. 53 Metern hat.
Das Grabmal setzt sich aus vier Gewölben zusammen, die in Form eines in die vier Himmelsrichtungen zeigenden Kreuzes ausgerichtet sind.

Many important archaeological finds have come to light in Castellina, particularly the imposing burial vault of Mt. Calvario, which measures about 53 metres across, just outside the town on the road to Florence.
The tomb contains four burial vaults arranged in a cross aligned with the four cardinal points.
