Vor der Herstellung der Preforms muss das PET oder PLA getrocknet werden, da es sonst im Preform zu Schlierenbildung und Degradierung durch Hydrolyse kommen kann.
PET hat als Neuware oft bis zu ca. 0,1% Anfangsfeuchte und wird daher bei 160 °C bis 175 °C ca. 6 Stunden getrocknet, um einen Restfeuchtegehalt von maximal 50 ppm zu erhalten.
