Senghor initiierte Projekt der Négritude, die Migrantenströme der 1960er und 1970er Jahre und die von ihnen geprägten Stadtviertel, bis hin zu all jenen Diaspora-Initiativen, Geschäften, Verlagen und Agenturen, dank derer Paris zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts zum unangefochtenen ( Welt- ) Zentrum der afrikanischen Mode, Musik, Kunst und Literatur avancierte.
Ausstellung und Katalog präsentieren die Ideenwelt und Ikonografie des schwarzen Paris mitsamt seinen Protagonisten, Mythen und Legenden als eine imaginäre Landschaft.
