Herden von bis zu 300 Elefanten scharren im trockenen Flussbett nach Wasseradern, während wandernde Gnus, Zebras, Büffel, Gazellen, Kuh- und Elenantilopen sich an den schwindenden Wasserlöchern drängen.
Es ist die größte Konzentration wild lebender Tiere außerhalb des Serengeti-Ökosysstems – ein gedeckter Tisch für Raubtiere – und der Ort in Tansania, wo man Festland-Antilopen wie den stattlichen Büschelohr-Spießbock und die eigenartige Giraffengazelle regelmäßig beobachten kann.

It s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem - a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed.
