The GNU Privacy Assistent ( GPA ) is a official graphical user interface for the GNU Privacy Guard ( GnuPG ) . GnuPG and GPA have been partially sponsored by the german Ministery of Economy and Technolgy ( Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie ).
The project Freie Software und IT-Sicherheit ( Free Software and IT Security ) leveraged the wide-spread use of encryption and signatures for electronic correspondence .
Intevation GmbH was contracted by G-N-U to take over the management for the final phase of the project as well as for ongoing design and development of the graphical user interface GPA.

A joint venture was signed at LinuxTag 2011 by LPI e.V. and Verein Freie Software und Bildung e.V. for long term cooperation in schools , vocational schools and universities .
These two associations are working together as a more effective way of achieving their shared objectives, and of establishing their training for Linux and Open Source more firmly in German educational systems.

Auf dem LinuxTag 2011 hatten der LPI e.V. und der Verein Freie Software und Bildung e.V. eine Kooperationsvereinbarung zur dauerhaften Zusammenarbeit im Bereich von Schulen , Berufsschulen und Universitäten unterzeichnet .
Beide Vereine kooperieren, um ihre gemeinsamen Ziele noch besser zu erreichen und Unterricht in Linux und Open Source stärker in den deutschen Bildungssystemen zu verankern.

Since 2011 , the examinations software LPLUS TestStudio of the Bremen company LPLUS is used to substitute handwritten exams at Freie Universität Berlin , following an intense evaluation and test phase of examinations platforms since 2007 .
