Translations for ehe in the English»Italian Dictionary

I.she [Brit ʃiː, Am ʃi] PRON She is almost always translated by lei (which is in itself the feminine object, not subject pronoun); the feminine subject pronoun ella is no longer used but in very formal writing: she closed the door = lei ha chiuso la porta. - Remember that in Italian the subject pronoun is very often understood: she came alone = è venuta da sola. When used in emphasis, however, the pronoun is stressed, and is placed either at the beginning or at the end of the sentence: she killed him! = lei l'ha ucciso! l'ha ucciso lei! - For particular usages, see this entry.
