Platon verstand unter Philosophie auch „Dialektik“, die in Rede und Gegenrede sich ausweisende Bemühung um das, was wahr ist, was gut werden soll, was im Hinblick auf das menschliche Zusammenleben richtig ist und was als Schönes uns wohlgefällt, uns reizt und unser Tun antreibt.

Plato meant by philosophy also "dialectic", the effort to establish what is true in speech and objection, what should become good, and what is socially right, in terms of human life and what we regard as beautiful, what attracts us and motivates our actions.
