www.teneues.comIn High Tide werden die 2 Bewegungsmodi des Films – jener im Bild, und jener des Blickes selbst – sorgsam voneinander getrennt und fast schon didaktisch hintereinander gesetzt.
Dabei zieht der Film gedanklich eine Linie – vom Sujet der Landschaft in der Romantik, zum kreisenden Blick des Panoramabesuchers bis hin zum filmischen, Bewegung aufzeichnenden Bild.
High Tide ist das Zeugnis einer Landschaft und der Möglichkeit dieser im Filmischen virtualisiert überall auf der Welt (wieder und wieder) zu begegnen.

Konrad Jarnot, Bariton Alexander Schmalcz, Klavier Im (nicht von Schubert vertonten) Prolog zu seiner Gedichtsammlung nimmt Wilhelm Müller eine ironische Haltung zu dem pastoralen Sujet seiner Dichtung ein.
In seinem Gedichtzyklus, der Teil einer Sammlung mit dem Titel ?77 Gedichte aus den nachgelassenen Papieren eines reisenden Waldhornisten? ist, bedient er in einer Zeit beginnender Urbanisierung und Industrialisierung die Sehnsucht eines bürgerlich- städtischen Publikums nach dem ?Ländlichen?, ?Einfachen? und Schlichten?.

In his poem cycle, which is part of a collection with the title ?77 Poems from the Posthumous Papers of a Traveling Waldhorn Player?, he avails himself of the yearnings of a middle-class citizenry caught up in the early industrial and urban age, but still longing for the ?rural?, the ?simple? and the ?unpretentious?.

Während Sekula sich hier einerseits in das Sujet involviert zeigt, indem er Szenen seiner eigenen Umgebung zum Thema macht, geht es ihm andererseits um die Dokumentation allgemeiner Lebens- und Arbeitsbedingungen einer von Schulsystem und Arbeitsmarkt geprellten Generation.
